Mandated child abuse reporting and nursing education

 Reporting child neglect or abuse

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories, have child abuse and neglect reporting laws that mandate nurses recognize, and report suspected child abuse, maltreatment, and neglect. Any nurse who is employed in a state different from the one in which she or he has a license must study the child abuse laws of that employing state. A list of all the states, the District of Columbia, and their reporting contact numbers and websites are available by clicking this linkĀ https://www.rnceus.com/Child_abuse/reporting22.html.

Required nursing continuing professional developmentĀ (NCPD)

Iowa, Kentucky, New York, and Pennsylvania have each legislated specific NCPD requirements on child maltreatment, neglect, and abuse, as a condition of licensure.
